Beleaguered Malawi Defence Force (MDF) bosses have issued an order to have Investigative journalists Gregory Gondwe and Mercy Matonga ‘brought in for a chat’ over an earth shaking story on payment of military equipment to Zuneth Sattar currently under corruption probe.
We can reveal that the top MDF bosses, embarrassed and shamed for the expose, have also asked Police to trace and bring the two journalists to Kamuzu Barracks.
“It’s true that the bosses want the two reporters brought in for ‘a little chat’ at the Barracks and we are currently looking for them,” said one of our military sources in Lilongwe.
A Police source also said they have received instructions from State House to ‘get in touch’ with the two journalists for ‘a chat at Kamuzu Barracks’.
Gondwe confirmed in an interview that he is on the run after being tipped of his impending arrest.
We will bring you more when we get comments on this from the Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu, the Army Commander himself General Paul Valentino Phiri, State House Director of Communications Kent Mphepo and Inspector General of Police Merlyn Yolamu.
Below is the story that Gondwe published on Monday on his Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ) online platform.
