Just a week before the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) goes to its elective conference in the capital Lilongwe, there are clear signs that the party’s chief strategist Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma will be voted in as the next First Vice President.
A random survey conducted by our analysts and reporters throughout Malawi indicate that delegates going to the convention are in support of Ken Zikhale Ng’oma popularly known as Nyama Zikuluzikulu.
The people say that they believe in Zikhale Ng’oma because of his unwavering loyalty to President Lazarus Chakwera and the MCP as an entity.
The people say that the unquestionable support that Zikhale has been showing to President Chakwera and the party as a whole puts him at a greater advantage than his competitors.
“He has been loyal to President Chakwera and the party. He is a kind of person that everyone looks upon to. So electing him as First Vice President will be a better idea as he will be the young man going around doing party work on behalf of President Chakwera as he is busy running state matters,” said one delegate from Lilongwe.
Another delegate from the southern region who met Zikhale Ng’oma in person last week said, he won’t hesitate to vote for Zikhale Ng’oma at the convention before of what he saw in the candidate.
“I met Zikhale for the first time in my life and I shook his hand. He is very friendly, down to earth, accommodating and finally very generous,” he said.
According to our analysts, following the visit by Zikhale Ng’oma in the Eastern, Southern, Central and Northern Region, the political atmosphere favours the current MCP chief strategist.
The analysts say that the recent whirlwind tours done by Ng’oma in these regions have swung the electoral pendulum in his favour and the come August 8th, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma will formally be crowned the MCP First Vice President.
