KALIATI CAMP CAUGHT SPREADING FALSE REPORTS ON VP USI

By Our Reporter

A political camp within the United Transformation Movement (UTM) has been caught spreading false reports and remours on the the country’s Vice President and UTM President Dr Michael Usi.

The reports and remours which are slander in nature are aimed at tarnishing the good image of Dr Usi.

The camp, is allegedly reported to be linked to UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati and Spokesperson Felix Njawala.

We has since established that the aim of these unfounded reports and remours being spread are aimed at frustrating Dr Usi, as the current President of UTM.

Dr Usi, became the leader of UTM following the party’s own Constitution after the demise of its founding the late Dr Saulos Chilima in June.

Before becoming UTM leader, Dr Usi was the Vice President of the party hence his rise to the top.

However, since his ascendcy as UTM leader and his appointment as the country’s Vice President, Secretary General Patricia Kaliati and Spokesperson Felix Njawala have openly made public pronoucements that have shown the two are against the leadership of Dr Michael Usi.

These liberious statements have been made in media interviews and public rallies.

And just this weekend, the same camp led by Kaliati and Njawala have been caught spreading reports that an aide belonging to Vice President Usi insulted some UTM officials including Kaliati herself and Makuta.

However, we has since established that the two were not insulted by the said official who is also a public officer.

The false reports further alleged that Dr Usi in his capacity as UTM leader gave money to some UTM district governors in order to win their support.

However, we have also established that these reports of any money exchanging hands are blatant lies aimed and stopping the UTM leader from gaining further milege and consolidating his power even more.

UTM leader Usi has shocked me within the party after he has received overwhelmingly support from all corners of the country in as far as the grassroot support is concerned.

He has addressed thousands of UTM supporters and leaders in the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Central regions and in all these areas, he has received overwhelming support.

In the latest development, on Saturday hundreds of UTM supporters thronged the Kamuzu International Airport to accompany their President Usi in welcoming President Lazarus Chakwera from his international trip.

The hundreds of supporters that welcomed the President at KIA may have shocked the Kaliati and Njawala camp as they never expected this to happen hence the false reports in the Vice President.

In recent weeks, reputable political analysts have warned both Kaliati and Njawala to stop disrespecting and fighting Michael Usi saying that the behaviour will only lead the a decline in support of the party.

The analysts have since appealed for more support on the VP other than labeling against him.

Recently, there have been reports in public domain where Kaliati has been linked to conving some new members to join the party so that they can contest against Dr Michael Usi and outst him from the UTM presidency.

This behavior has been condemned by analysts saying it’s undemocratic.
